The Haupt estate at Horní Černá Studnice, meadow and Mléčná spring.

On the road through Horní Černá Studnice (part of Nová Ves) to the viewpoint tower on Černá Studnice (following the blue route) stands the ancient Haupt farmstead and picturesque stone-built barn, erected by local masons from hewn granite blocks prior to the battle at Hradec Králové in 1865. The Flower Meadow, a significant feature of the landscape, opens out opposite Haupt’s barn, on the right hand side of the road. The Meadow, with an area of 6571m2, is a protected upland meadow, rich in flora and partially waterlogged. Over sixty  species of plant have been identified in the meadow, with several protected species in the marsh area including the common spotted orchid, the broad-leaved marsh orchid, the relatively unknown cross Dactylorhiza × braunii orchid, the greater butterfly orchid, the fragrant orchid, the small lousewort, mountain arnica, spring snowflake and common cottongrass. At a turn in the path towards the top of the meadow closer to the viewpoint tower a large granite boulder emerges from the ground, marking the Milk Spring (Mléčná studánka).  Legend has it that the landlord at the Haupt farmstead cooled milk here during the hot summer months to prevent it going sour. Water from one of the most abundant springs in the settlement (which the Jablonec Mountain Society attempted unsuccessfully to purchase from the then owner at the time of the construction of the viewpoint tower) flows by the meadow and disappears into the forest connecting with the Žertovník stream a few hundred metres further on.
