The exhibition with 200 exhibits of German, Russian, Spanish and Czech dolls has also been supplemented with other toys. As well as toy kitchens, rooms, prams, beds and cots, there are also building blocks, trains and cars for boys.
The collection was established over a period of ten years and some of the dolls have had to be sensitively and expertly repaired with a knowledge of the history and technology of their original production. The exhibits are not only part of static displays where nothing happens. The dolls change their clothes according to the season of the year, which means that the details are very important: umbrellas, handbags and jewellery, but also chairs, a sewing machine or prams.
Come and see for yourself how sensitively an ordinary doll can be treated and how the history of fashion can be presented using these non-living models.
The entire display is accompanied by the good humour and engaging stories of the museum’s owner.
