The Catholic Church of Mary, Help of Christians stands dramatically on a rise in the middle of the village of Nová Ves nad Nisou. In the years preceding World War One a group of local Catholics founded a society for the erection of a church and construction began in 1935. The foundation stone was laid and consecrated on the 16th May, 1935. The church was opened on the 24th June, 1936, accompanied by great festivities and a church fete. Three bells (together weighing over 1000kg) together with a death-bell were hoisted into position in the bell tower and consecrated. After the Second World War the bells were confiscated and lost forever. In 2007 the Novoveský okrašlovací spolek(Nová Ves Society) was formed which, together with a range of other activities, ensures the continued maintenance of the church.
