Why arboretum? In 2002 the couple decided to change the wild garden, 4.5 hectares and the surrounding land and turn it into an arboretum. As a border they chose trees that naturally merged with the surrounding landscape, just outside the area they planted specific species of pine and a unique collection of conifers. They established a rose garden in typical Holland style, defined by red and green beech hedge, whereas the whole rose garden is divided according to colours of the roses and other herbs. In 2003 they planted a great number of trees, bushes and then with a help of the children from the local school, they also planted 25 aspen trees.
The Arboretum Bulovka is located at a foot of the Jizerka Mountains, 11 km from Frydlant and 7km south of the village on the boundary of Habartice, Bulovka and Pertoltice. The arboretum is situated at the upper plateau between hills and forests overlooking the border triangle of Poland, Czech Republic and Germany. All labels include names of the trees in Latin, English and country/continent of origin.
The arboretum is opened daily and free of charge. Once a year, Mrs Hennie Dennenberg organises a painting workshop.
