Pörner Chapel, Horní Černá Studnice

The chapel or Marian Column is located in the village of Horní Černá Studnice, part of Nová Ves nad Nisou, along the road to Jelení kout. According to Josephinist maps drawn up from 1764-1767, there has been a chapel at this site since at least 1760. Around 1859 a new, possibly rebuilt chapel was erected on the site by Franz Pörner, owner of one of the three oldest farmsteads in the village. The chapel originally housed the Vambeřic Madonna, purchased for the chapel by local glass merchant Wilhelm Hübner. In the 1920s the chapel was moved to its present position to make way for a new road. By the 1970s the chapel had fallen into considerable disrepair; however, a group of enthusiasts saved the building from collapse. Following complete restoration in 2001, the roof was adorned with a cross and the chapel was reconsecrated.

Horní Černá Studnice can be reached by road from Nová Ves na Nisou and Dolní Černá Studnice, or from Smržovka via Jelení kout.
