An old cart road leads up from the centre of Nová Ves towards Horní Černá Studnice, which takes the traveller up to the summit of Černá Studnice. The hillside sloping gently up to Černá Studnice was historically known locally as Stammelberk. In 2009 work was begun to reinstate parts of the lane, now known as the Children’s Avenue. Restoration work is being carried out by local groups, children themselves and the Community Council, with funding from Nadace Partnerství (Partner Foundation). Along the road there are fine old examples of tall cherry tress, a variety slowly disappearing from the Czech countryside. Half way up the road there are four impressive sycamore trees, the last remaining trees of the original 19th Century avenue. As of 2020, the Nová Ves Sycamore, (the one nearest the village), is Nová Ves’s newest protected tree. The tree is 19m tall and the trunk measures 319cm in circumference. This enormous tree was awarded Jablonec Tree of the Year in 2009. The spot affords beautiful views over the village and beyond, and there is a bench for relaxation and a climbing frame for children.
